New Lowden Strings

A Guitar Tuner

Wire Cutters

A String Winder

Restring Protector Mat

Here’s how we recommend you change the strings on your Sheeran by Lowden. If your guitar has a pickup system (standard on 02, 03, 04 models), please follow these steps one string at a time, removing one old string and equipping one new string.

Removing Your Old Strings.

01. 01.

Find a clean and flat surface to restring your guitar.

02. 02.

Support the neck of your guitar under the 1st-3rd fret area, using a solid item covered with a soft material.

03. 03.

Place the restring protector mat below the bridge.

04. 04.

De-tune each string until fully slack.

05. 05.

Cut each string in the middle.

06. 06.

Pull each cut string down through the bridge.

07. 07.

Unwind the remaining strings from the tuner and remove.

EQUIPPING NEW LOWDEN LIGHT STRINGS.

01. 01.

Starting with the green ball end string (G/3rd), put a slight bend in the cut end of the string.

02. 02.

Feed string up through the bridge towards the headstock.

03. 03.

Feed string into the appropriate tuner from the inside of the headstock out (ensure the hole in post is at a right angle to headstock) and pull until approx 5” of string is loose.

04. 04.

Wrap the loose end of the string anticlockwise tight around the post, feed under the main string and then fold it back over in the opposite direction (ensures string is locked in position).

05. 05.

Seat string in nut slot and tighten tuner using a string winder until string is tight.

06. 06.

Cut off the loose end with string cutter. Repeat instructions with each string in the following order: Black (E / 6th), brass (E / 1st), purple (B / 2nd ), red (D / 4th) and Silver (A / 5th).

07. 07.

Use a guitar tuner to tune each string.
